The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics introduced National Nutrition Month about 51 years ago to promote healthy eating habits through education and training. In March 2024, during National Nutrition Month, Christus Health took on the challenge of encouraging the adoption of healthy eating practices. It collaborated with the Harvest Regional Food Bank to address food insecurity nationwide. Additionally, the nonprofit organization focused on educating the public about the significance of healthy nutrition.

During her speech, Lauren Clark, a clinical dietitian at Christus Trinity Clinic, emphasized inviting as many people as possible to learn about healthy nutrition and actively adopt healthier eating habits. This approach helps individuals make informed food choices for themselves and their families. Clark recommended incorporating sufficient proteins and vegetables into meals and planning meals.

To address food insecurity in the ArkLaTex region, Christus Health partnered with the Harvest Regional Food Bank to establish the Food Box Prescription Program. This program is accessible to patients at Christus Trinity Clinic dealing with food insecurity, diabetes, or high blood pressure. The Harvest Regional Food Bank invites eligible patients to collect healthy food boxes from their facilities each month.
