On July 27, Christus Southeast Texas Health System hosted a fundraiser that will benefit the sick children in Southeast Texas. July 27 was the Miracle Treat Day. On that day, every purchase of Blizzard, a dessert-in-a-cup produced by Dairy Queen, for $1 goes entirely to Children's Miracle Network. The Children's Miracle Network is a group of hospitals treating millions of sick children in Canada and the US, including Southeast Texas.
At the cafeteria of St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, students from five local districts gathered to participate in the Blizzard eating contest hosted by Christus Southeast Texas Health System. A junior East Chambers High School student, Dax Henley won the contest.
Caralee Thompson, the program manager of Children's Miracle Network in Christus Health, expressed her gratitude to Dairy Queen for partnering with them in helping the most vulnerable patients in the community. All the funds collected in Southeast Texas during the Miracle Treat Day will stay with Southeast Texas. They may provide state-of-the-art medical equipment, preventative care, and other support services that will benefit the community.
